Levant brings the joyful Middle Eastern tradition of hospitality and good food to life by drawing on the aromatic, eye-catching cuisines of Morocco, Lebanon and Egypt. They will be offering a wealth of sensuous yet accessible tastes at Play the Field.


Sommerville Foods

Sommerville

Sommerville foods produce a variety of vegetarian food in the nearby village of Pitney and will be selling the following at Play the Field: savoury tarts, folds, parcels, pasties, pate, calzonne, borek, classic french sweet tarts, sweet and savoury brioche (some suitable for gluten intolerant diets).

Ingredients for these items incorporate many local ingredients from rape-seed oil, flour and vegetables to sheeps, cows, goats and buffalo milk hard and soft cheeses, butter, cream, milk, free-range organic eggs and local cider vinegar. Some, like rocket, sorrel other salading and herbs are grown by Sommerville Foods themselves in Pitney.


Summer Cafe

Summer Café have prepared a special menu for the festival, sourced from local ingredients where possible and will be selling: Illy espresso, macchiato, mocha; hot chocolate; English breakfast tea and Earl Grey, herbal infusions, Chai latte, organic drinks such as cola, sparkling lemonade, sparkling elderflower, strawberries and clotted cream, Raspberry Eton mess, cream teas consisting of home-made buttermilk scones with strawberry preserve; toasted sandwiches; and cakes including chocolate brownies and carrot cake.


Fresh Sushi

Fresh Sushi will be serving vegetable maki rolls and fish nigiri from a specially converted ice cream van.


Riverford Organic Mobile

Riverford

Riverford Organic Mobile, recent winners at The Observer Ethical Awards will be on site with their organic BBQ selling organic burgers and other tasty, meaty treats.


At the Chapel - Hampers

Hampers

Hampers for two people can be pre-ordered from 'At The Chapel' in Bruton and will be waiting for collection on the day of the concerts.

‘At The Chapel’ Hampers will include: chicken liver pate with freshly baked artisan rolls; ploughman’s, Somerset ham, Westcombe cheddar, pickled onion, chutney; home baked scones, strawberry jam and clotted cream. Biodegradable carry bag, cutlery and napkins included.

The Barton Inn

A local pub, the Barton Inn is providing the main official bar for the two-day event and will be serving: real ales, ciders and fruit juices, mainly produced within 10 miles of the festival site. Appropriately themed cocktails will be available each night, as well as decent wines served at the right temperature. Pimm's with all the trimmings will be sold by the jug or glass. And for the less adventurous the usual lagers will be on sale.


Sunday 30th August - Local Produce Market

From 2pm on Sunday 30 August ticket holders for the evening concert will be able to freely browse and enjoy the culinary delights on offer our Local produce market.
 
While browsing for local goodies, guests will also have a unique opportunity to enjoy the open rehearsals going on in the background, with BBC conductor Charles Hazlewood and his orchestra, 'Army of Generals' rehearsing for the evening performance of Vivaldi's 'The Four Seasons', featuring Russian violin virtuoso Alexander Sitkovetsky, a former pupil of the late Yehudi Menuhin.
