With free entry for under 13's, a reduced price package for families
and a fun packed programme of activities for the whole family to
enjoy on the Sunday afternoon, Play the Field is the ideal way to introduce
children to live classical music. Come along and have some fun together...everyone's welcome at Play the Field!
From 2pm on Sunday ticket holders for the evening concert will be able to shop at our special, one-off local produce market, with a great range of food from the nearby area. Plus, there’ll be lots of fun activities to keep the whole family entertained, including: - Dr Watson's vintage roundabout
- Zoe Wood's inflatable obstacle course
- Vanilla Pod's fairy cake decorating
- Sarah Richard's puppets, with 2 performances of 'The Princess and the Pea'
- Head for Heights circus skills training (after 3pm)
All this, set to the sounds of the orchestra rehearsing for what promises to be a truly breathtaking evening performance of Vivaldi’s the Four Seasons.
I’m
so keen to persuade families with children to attend the event. Where
else can kids experience classical music whilst still being themselves
and without parents having to worry about them destroying the music or
the enjoyment of people around them? I'm determined to bust classical
music out of the ivory tower and into spaces where anyone and everyone
can go!
We want you to be able to hear really exciting music played by the best, but in
a relaxed outdoor setting where you can clap when you want to, chase your toddler if necessary,
drink beer, take photos, get lost in the music and generally be yourselves!
Also, I know from my personal experience of taking orchestras into schools in deprived areas, that this will blow their heads off! Kids will absolutely love it. |
